Southern Chiefs' Organization 25th Anniversary Scholarship

The Southern Chiefs’ Organization (SCO) represents 34 Anishinaabe and Dakota Nations and more than 87,000 citizens in what is now called southern Manitoba. SCO was established in 1999 to protect, preserve, promote, and enhance the inherent rights, languages, customs, and traditions of First Nations peoples.

The Southern Chiefs’ Organization 25th Anniversary Scholarship will be awarded to a status First Nation citizen of one of SCO’s member Nations who has achieved a minimum 3.0 GPA and completed a minimum 12 credit hours of full-or part-time studies. To be considered, students must submit a resume/cv or letter of reference/recommendation demonstrating their contributions to their community, campus community, or the community at large. Selection is competitive.

SCO celebrates all successful applicants in a press release, on social media, and at an annual event. By submitting an application for the scholarship, the recipient of the scholarship consents to be contacted through electronic mail or telephone for a brief interview with an SCO employee.
