The Virginia Satir Bursary

This bursary is to be awarded to a student enrolled in the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program that demonstrates financial need. Virginia Satir was to the field of family therapy what Dick Dearing has been to family therapy in Manitoba. This bursary celebrates her spirit – as the only women amongst the founders of family therapy as a theory and as a profession. She was the first recipient of an Interfaith Marriage and Family Institute/Aurora Family Therapy Centre Award in 1988, after having created an amazing and moving workshop. Her extraordinary power as a therapist, her manifest love of humankind and of the whole fabric of life, and her compassionate commitment to bringing healing to others were an inspiration.
