The Maria Gomori Bursary

This bursary is to be awarded to students enrolled in the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program that demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to student applicants who demonstrate in their application their interest and knowledge of the Satir model (the basic beliefs, values and principles of the Satir Model of Family Therapy). Maria Gomori, who is 96 years young in 2016, has taught Family Reconstruction at the Aurora Family Therapy Centre for many years. She was a close friend of Virginia Stair, carrying on her work since Virginia’s death in 1988. Maria established the Satir Professional Development Institute of Manitoba for this purpose, and has made frequent trips to Asia and Europe to teach the Satir method. This bursary honours Maria’s devotion to family therapy and her amazing vitality and enthusiasm for life.
