The Bervin Entrance Scholarship Honouring Residential School Children

This scholarship will support two Indigenous Model School or UWinnipeg Collegiate graduates as they enter The University of Winnipeg. Each student’s gender must be different. To be eligible for this scholarship students must have at least an 85% final Grade 12 award average and enroll in a minimum of 18 credit hours for the following school year. The grade requirement is competitive. This scholarship may be held with other UWinnipeg entrance awards.
This Scholarship was established by the Jewish son of Berdie and Irvin Cohen to honour the Indigenous sons and daughters who attended residential schools in Canada. It is intended to let the Indigenous people know they are not alone, and with some encouragement from friends they can improve their future. It is hoped that this scholarship will inspire current and future generations of Indigenous students to realize their unlimited potential.
