Dr. Richard N. Dearing Bursary

This bursary will be awarded to a student enrolled in the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) who demonstrates financial need. This bursary was established in honour of Dick’s contributions to the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program. Dick Dearing was the Executive Director of Interfaith Marriage and Family Institute/Aurora Family Therapy Centre from 1985 to 2001. Under his wise leadership two courses grew into two certificates, which in turn grew into an internationally accredited Master’s degree. In 2001 he received the Marsha Hanen Award for Excellence in Creating Community Awareness. As Director of the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program, one of his priorities was to have bursary money available to students with financial need so it is fitting that this bursary will continue this legacy.
