Steven Andrew Hurst Memorial Award

This award will be given to a promising Third Year student pursuing Film as their primary area of study toward a major in Theatre and Film at The University of Winnipeg. Recipients must have a minimum grade point average of 3.00 (B) in their Theatre and Film courses, have completed a minimum of 21 credit hours of Theatre and Film courses, be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident, and demonstrate financial need. This award was established in 2014 in memory of Steven Hurst. Steven was a talented musician and dedicated University of Winnipeg film student. Growing up in Winnipeg’s North End surrounded by family and friends, Steven blossomed into an incredibly talented musician, film maker and writer. This nurturing environment cultivated a strong value of education and thirst for learning. Steven was a kind, compassionate, son, brother and friend who was blessed with loving, loyal relationships. Established by his friends, family, and community, this award honours his passion for film, music and education and is meant to be a lasting legacy to Steven’s tender heart.
