John and Jane Bosace Memorial Award

This award will be given to continuing students who are majoring in French Studies at The University of Winnipeg, and who have strong academic records. Preference will be given to students who are recent immigrants to Canada or who demonstrate financial need. To be eligible, the students must register for at least 12 credit hours in French Studies in the Fall and Winter Terms following the award. Professor John Bosace was born in Paris, France, and he subsequently moved to the United States. There, he met his future wife, Jane Murphy. In 1960, they came to Winnipeg, thinking they would stay two years. He had accepted a position to teach in the French Department at United College. Those two years turned into a lifetime of service to The University of Winnipeg. His search for perfection and his dedication to helping students reach their highest level of achievement represent his legacy. Jane taught English in high schools in Winnipeg. Equally dedicated to her students, her creativity, and gentle and caring nature brought out the best in them.
