The Honourable Dr. Lloyd Axworthy and Denise Ommanney Opportunity Fund Bursary

This bursary is designed to support Opportunity Fund candidates with preference given to Indigenous students, new Canadians, people from war-affected nations, refugees, students from inner-city neighbourhoods, and students requiring financial assistance through the Youth-in-Care Tuition Waiver Program or who wish to attend The University of Winnipeg Collegiate Model School. This bursary is established in honour of Dr. Axworthy’s retirement from his exemplary service as President and Vice-Chancellor (2004-2014) and in recognition of his and his wife’s dedication to improving the inner city and breaking the cycle of poverty. The Opportunity Fund is a unique initiative created by The University of Winnipeg to help make it possible for students to dream big. The goal is to ensure access to a university education, bridge the graduation gap, and transform lives through education.
