Bonnycastle Opportunity Fund Bursary

The Bonnycastle Opportunity Fund Bursary will support students who meet the eligibility criteria of the Opportunity Fund. Recipients must demonstrate financial need and come from one (or more) of the following groups: Indigenous students, recent immigrants, students with refugee backgrounds, first generation students, and/or mature students.
This fund was established in memory of Dick (R.H.G) Bonnycastle, a proud Winnipegger, successful businessman and dedicated community volunteer, who passed away in August 1968. Dr. Bonnycastle was proud to serve as the first Chancellor of the newly established University of Winnipeg from September 25, 1967 – September 29, 1968. Dr. Bonnycastle was also the first Chairman of Council, Metropolitan Corporation of Greater Winnipeg; General Manager, Harlequin Books, Ltd; President, Stovel-Advocate Press Ltd; and worked in a variety of senior roles for the Hudson’s Bay Company.
