Dr. Tanya Elez Bursary
This bursary is to be awarded to a student enrolled in the Master of Marriage and Family Therapy Program who is doing a practicum at the Aurora Family Therapy Centre. Recipients must demonstrate financial need. Preference will be given to New Canadians and Indigenous students.
The bursary was established in honour of Dr. Elez’s transformative contributions to the Aurora Family Therapy Centre. Dr. Elez was employed by Aurora from 2001-2010 as a therapist, clinical supervisor, and instructor. She also established Aurora’s therapy program for immigrant and refugee families in 2007. Dr. Elez left Aurora to complete her Ph.D. in psychology in 2010 but remained as a consultant to the Aurora executive director from 2011- 2021. Her work contributed to Aurora’s understanding of what it means to make diversity a core part of our identity.
