All Opportunities
Welcome to The University of Winnipeg’s
Online Award Application!
Our online application matches you to scholarships, awards and bursary opportunities. Selection criteria includes academic record, financial need, student background, and/or extra-curricular activities. You may also need to provide additional information like reference letters and CVs (curriculum vitae).
We will keep your information confidential and only use it for awarding purposes.
How does it work?
- The online application automatically adds information from your student record. Consequently, we already know your GPA, your completed credit hours, your major and the other items in your student file. You can view this information by clicking on ‘Applicant Record’ on the bottom left of your screen.
- Complete the General Application and tell us more about yourself. The application will ask you questions about your financial need, student background, and academic goals. You must complete the General Application before we can consider you for many available awards.
- Once you complete your General Application, you can complete any additional applications, which appears in your portal to apply for even more awards, bursaries, and scholarships.
- The online application will also generate a list of Recommended Opportunities that you may qualify for. To apply for those opportunities, answer the questions specific to the Recommended Opportunities.
- The online application will use information from your student record, General, University Scholarships and Department Awards, and/or Entrance Award Opportunities Applications, plus any Recommended Opportunity Applications completed to determine your eligibility for awards. The Awards and Financial Aid Office will review the applications and let you know via your UWinnipeg email if you have received an award.

Applying for awards and AI text-generating tools
Just like writing an essay or taking a test, students must follow the principles of academic integrity when applying for awards (e.g., honesty, respect, fairness, and responsibility). Personal statements and declarations, reference letters, resumes/CV’s, or any other personal information submitted for an award, is expected to be in the student’s own voice and honestly reflect their experience, achievements and personal story. AI text-generating tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Bing, Notion AI) should not be used to create or falsely embellish any information submitted for an award. Using AI text-generating tools for functional purposes (e.g. editing original prose, improving grammar/punctuation, translating words) is permitted, as long as its use is acknowledged by the student. An informal statement should be included at the end of each submitted document to acknowledge the use of AI text-generating tools, if applicable (e.g., at the end of the personal statement: “ChatGPT used for grammar/punctuation”). It is not recommended to include private or confidential information when using a Generative AI tool as it may become part of the Large Language Model being used and, therefore, potentially available to others. If students are unsure whether their use of AI tools is acceptable for an award application, they should consult with the Awards and Financial Aid office for advice. We will be happy to help.
